Maintenance Guide - How to Maintain Your Motorcycle Air-Filter

The motorcycle air filter plays a very important role. The air entering the nozzle comes from the air filter to be clean and free of suspended particles. When doing this work, the air filter traps a lot of dirt and grime. It is important to keep the filter clean at all times so that the engine easily draws in the required amount of air and a perfect mixture of air and fuel is introduced into the engine.

The right amount of air is very important for the proper operation of the motorcycle engine. If the air filter is not clean, the injector will not mix enough air with the fuel. This changes the air to fuel ratio and the mixture entering the engine would be rich. Engine performance is reduced and fuel is not completely burned. Then, in addition to performance, fuel efficiency is at stake. If the air filter is not clean, you may feel a significant reduction in the throttle response of the motorcycle. When the accelerator pedal is released, the revs do not fall immediately. While service personnel cleans the air filter during cleaning, it is recommended that you do this frequently. These are the simple steps you need to follow to clean the air filter.

First, you need to find out where the motorcycle air filter is. In most cases, you will find it in front of or under the battery panel. However, first, check your motorcycle instruction manual to find out where it is. Carefully remove the air filter from its position.

Cleaning
Currently, different types of Two wheeler air filter are used in motorcycles. Many manufacturers have switched to high flow paper air filters. These filters provide better airflow and are easier to handle. If your motorcycle has a paper air filter, simply remove it by striking it a few times on a hard surface to remove dirt. Then use a vacuum at the end of the nozzle to remove dirt from the air filter. If you think a lot of dirt has accumulated on the filter paper, it would be better to replace it instead of trying to clean it. These filters are really affordable and would cost another up to a few hundred dollars.
If your motorcycle has a soft foam filter, you should use an air filter cleaning solution to clean the filter. Clean the solution until the dirt and dirt disappear and you get a clean filter.

Preparation
The paper air filter is ready to be replaced as soon as you have finished cleaning, but this is not the case with foamed air filters. After you have cleaned the filter correctly with an air filter cleaning solution, you should soak the filter in the air filter oil. Then allow excess oil to drain completely from the filter. After proper lubrication, allow to dry for 10-15 minutes. After it has dried, replace the motorcycle filter. Be sure to properly seal the filter housing so that the air does not get otherwise.

Continue to clean the motorcycle air filter at regular intervals to ensure smooth operation and good performance. Note the distance you have marked since the filter was last cleaned. Also, keep in mind that if you live in dusty areas you should do this more often. If you use an aftermarket air filter on your motorcycle, such as K&N, clean the procedure recommended by the air filter manufacturer.
